New Era Public School, Mayapuri hosted the inter-school Song Competition under the aegis of DSLP (Delhi schools Literacy Project).

The chief guest for the event was Mrs. Rajni Kumar- Honorary advisor, Delhi Schools Literacy Project. Other special guests included Dr. Dharmendra Shastri- Senior Professor in Sanskrit at Khalsa College, Ms. Shikha Ganguli- Professional singer and Radio artist, Dr. Surendranath Soren- Associate professor in music at Delhi University.

The programme started with the address by Mrs. Chopra- Founder Principal and Director, New Era Public School, Mayapuri followed by the melodious literacy song performances by the participating schools. The learners from the Prayog Vihar community also presented a motivating song highlighting the significance of literacy in everyone’s life. Our chief guest Mrs. Rajini Kumar addressed the audience and talked about the importance and the urgent need for a literate nation and how each child can contribute towards the same.

The event concluded with Judge, Smt. Shikha Ganguli announcing the winning schools, which were:

3rd position- Springdales School, Pusa Road

    The festival of Janamashtami was celebrated with great enthusiasm. A special assembly was organised on the occasion. The students of class III C spoke very confidently on how the festival is celebrated in the country.The students looked attractive, dressed in colourful clothes. The assembly began with a small enactment of the birth of Lord Krishna. A poem was recited in praise of the Lord. There was a wonderful dance performance which left everyone mesmerized.
    The Principal Ms Vandana Chawla appreciated the efforts of the students and emphasized on the need to be good human beings.

      THE SARASWATI MEMORIAL ANNUAL INTER- SCHOOL FESTIVAL 2016

      New Era Public School has always been committed to the cause of excellence in education by nurturing students’ talents in academics as well as sports, art, music and quizzing.
      Keeping with its tradition, the school hosted The Saraswati Memorial Inter- School Festival 2016-17 on 19th and 20th August 2016. The students from schools all over Delhi and NCR participated in the festival with great zeal and fervour.

      The two day festival commenced with the lighting of the lamp by our Founder Principal and Director of all New Era Institutions ,Mrs USHA CHOPRA and our Principal Mrs VANDANA CHAWLA.

      A plethora of stimulating activities were designed to provide a platform to the young minds to explore their potential in various fields. Students from classes II to XII displayed their prowess in the competitions of their interest.

      The key personality of THE PRESS CONFERENCE was the famous yoga guru –Baba Ramdev. The participants developed their communicative skills and interviewing finesse.

      Students of primary wing enthralled the audience with their performances in PUPPET SHOW and FANCY DRESS COMPETITION. COMEDY OF SCIENTIFIC ERRORS brought to the fore the comic element in scientific learning. Hindi ‘PRASHAN MANCH’ was a peep into the diverse and colourful customs and traditions of India. MOCK STOCK TRADING COMPETITION organised by the Commerce Department provided an enriching learning experience to the students as they got an opportunity to buy and sell shares of virtual companies and thus manage their portfolio and compete with other players as well.

      BRAINGLE and MATHELON conducted by the Maths Department explored the beautiful world of numbers. SCI WIZ, A SCIENCE QUIZ brainstormed students’ science vocabulary as well as their analytical skills. The HASYA KAVI DARBAR left the audience in splits of laughter. The English VOCABULARY QUIZ ,was a fun filled contest based on idioms and proverbs , etymology , spellings etc.

        69th Independence Day Celebration

        New Era Public School, Mayapuri celebrated India’s 69th Independence Day on 11th August in the Saraswati Auditorium. Our Director, Mrs. Usha Chopra and our Principal, Mrs. Vandana Chawla, graced the special assembly with their presence.

        The school orchestra invoked patriotic fervour in everyone through their rendition. The students of the primary wing won everybody’s hearts through their melodious song. The highlight of the programme was an all-girls tabla performance which was accompanied by sitar, also played by a girl. The students of the primary wing had prepared a dance performance depicting the struggle for freedom by Rani Lakshmi Bai.

        Our Director Mrs. Usha Chopra shared her childhood experiences of the time before India got independence. Followed by that, our Principal enlightened the students by telling them how precious freedom is to us and making them realise that it wasn’t easy for us to get it.

        It was a day of joy, love and respect for the country. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem, sung with immense fervour by everyone.

          8th to 11th August was observed as the Social science week in the Primary Wing.
          Class V- Poster making activity, based on the topic Kargil anniversary (27th July). The students worked in groups and showed the contribution of the Indian army (with pictures of the soldiers who laid down their lives and information). The aim was to make the students realise the significance of the armed forces and their sacrifices.

          Class IV- Students wrote the English translation of the national anthem on an A 4size sheet. The activity was aimed at understanding the meaning of the national anthem and developing the spirit of patriotism in the students.

          Class III –the students made tricolour flowers using paper folding technique. They enjoyed working with their partners to showcase their creative abilities. The importance of the 3 colours- saffron, white and green were discussed. The activity was also aimed at developing unity.

          Class II– The students made beautiful bookmarks, using cut-outs of the national symbols on them. They decorated the bookmarks creatively and tied tricolour ribbons on them. The students gained information about the national symbols through this activity.

          Class I- The students did a colouring activity in which they made tricolour wristbands. They used a strip of paper and coloured it with saffron and green. They wore their wristbands proudly during the Independence day special assembly. The activity was aimed at developing pride in being an Indian.

          All the work done by the students of classes II to V was displayed in the classrooms.
