(Class XII Students At The Hawan)
The month of January brought excitement for class XI. They finally had official permission to plan the farewell of class XII.
They got down to business immediately after their tests – running auditions, planning, selecting costumes, making noise. Class XII, were curious and their excitement was palpable, as they waited eagerly for the day. Finally the day dawned. As the students of class XII trickled in, dressed to the hilt, one could see and admire the change in their carriage and demeanour.
It was difficult to believe that these suave young gentlemen and graceful young ladies, till a few days ago, actually struggled to be in proper uniform!
To begin the day, a havan was held in the auditorium to invoke the divine blessings. After the havan, class XI artistes took to the stage. They presented a colourful medley of dances and songs and the audience, which included teachers and class XII students, cheered them on. An AV presentation capturing the precious moments of class XII in school got an appreciable response. The school band was the favourite that day and to the delight of the crowd, they crooned in perfect melody, some popular Bollywood numbers.
Addressing the students, the Director, Mrs. Chopra spoke about the need to be focused and how a determined mind could take on the world. The Principal, Mrs. Chawla addressed the gathering, reinforcing the fact that one needs to be a good human being above all. The auditorium soon converted into a dance floor as everyone began to dance to popular foot tapping music. They managed to drag in their teachers who were equally happy to be a part of the merry crowd.
Later, the sumptuous lunch laid out for all was much relished and enjoyed. Each student of class XII could be seen sporting a badge depicting his/her title lovingly given by the class teacher. If a ‘merry maker’ looked gleeful, a ‘leading light’ perhaps felt a sense of pride. Then there were the ‘ruff-n-tuff’ & ‘sporting sensations’, the ‘academic achievers’ and ‘corridor kings’ and all of them mingled in bonhomie and fun to make the special group of 305 – Class XII of 2010-2011.
