The much awaited event of the year got underway on 20th August 2011. The next 5 days saw hundreds of students from 23 schools of Delhi battle it out in the fields of Mathematics, Public Speaking, Drawing and Painting, Street Theatre, Commerce events and Quizzing. The festival was inaugurated on the 20th with a lamp lighting ceremony which was followed by a scintillating dance performance.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director, Mrs. Usha Chopra welcomed the participants and spoke about the importance of participating in such competitions which encourage one to excel in their chosen field. The Principal, Mrs. Vandana Chawla stressed on the importance of team work.


Students from classes II to XII participated keenly in all the events and on many occasions the audience had a wonderful opportunity to see and enjoy the keenly contested competition. Where What Is The Good Word and Extempore brought out the linguistic skills, the Street Theatre competition stressed on the qualities of acting and presentation. The two Computer related competitions saw the youngsters exhibit their mastery in the field of technology. The General Awareness Quiz (Sr. and Jr.) proved that an alert and aware mind is a storehouse of unlimited knowledge. This competition witnessed the maximum participation. Commerce Creations, Drawing and Painting and Create News were an opportunity for the budding artists to display their talent and the Maths wizards got a chance to excel in Mathemagic.

Each event was an opportunity for the various individuals and teams to meet other youngsters, form new friendships and compete with dignity and fairness which was a triumph of spirit over scores. The R.L. Chopra Rolling Trophy for the Best Performance was won by Bal Bharati Public School, Pitampura.

On 26th August the Director and the Principal gave away the prizes and the Trophies bringing to an end this Saraswati Memorial Inter School Festival.
