To mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking and also to promote Environmental Conservation observed on 26th July and 28th July every year, students of classes XI A and XII A of New Era Public School (Mayapuri) , participated in an awareness rally along with police personnel and judges from Tis Hazari Court. The rally was organised on 30th July 2018 between 8:30 am to 10:00 am.  

The principal Mrs. Vandana Chawla flagged off the rally at New Era Public School.The rally passed through Mayapuri Industrial Area, Mayapuri Road, Mayapuri Police Station and reached New Era Public School .

Addressing the participants on the conclusion of the rally, Mrs. Vandana Chawla, pointed out that this rally was a part of an exercise to muster the support of the youth to prevent the menace of Illicit Trafficking and also an initiative to conserve the environment.

    CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME

    ENGLISH CLASS X

     

    New Era Public School, Mayapuri hosted a two-day Capacity Building Programme for English (Class X) teachers on 26 & 27 July 2018. The programme was conducted by CBSE resource persons, Mrs. Kirti Tandon and  Mrs. Meera Bhardwaj. A total of 32 teachers from 21 schools across Delhi-NCR  participated. The Principal, Mrs. Vandana Chawla, welcomed the guests and hoped that the two-day session benefits the teachers immensely.

    The programme was primarily aimed to help teachers handle the various challenges they face while teaching English to class X. The resource persons dwelled on aspects such as syllabus, lesson planning and activities to keep students motivated in class. They later discussed how teachers can guide students to score better.

    The participants found the programme very helpful as it brought them together to discuss and analyze specific issues as faced in the classrooms. It turned out to be a fruitful exchange, which would further help the teachers engage students more effectively.

     

      Principal’s Birthday (Special Assembly)

      Birthdays are very special occasions. It is a day to enjoy and receive abundant blessings.

      A special assembly was organised on the 25th of July to celebrate the birthday of the Principal Mrs. Vandana Chawla. The students recited beautiful poetry and prayed for the good health and well being of their Principal. Dressed in colourful dresses, the students wished for happiness, good luck, wealth and prosperity for their Principal. They thanked Maám for leading and guiding them and also for her dedication, perseverance and tireless efforts towards the institution.

      Speaking on the occasion, the Director Mrs Usha Chopra said that today their Principal is leading the students and tomorrow her students might lead the country.

         

        Holiday Homework Display

        The holiday homework display of classes I to V was held on 21st July, 2018. The work done by the students was displayed in the classrooms in a creative manner. The parents were happy to see the projects and assignments, which were very colourful and attractive. The Director and Principal of the school also took a round of all the classes and appreciated the efforts of the students

          The 12th R.L. Chopra Memorial Creative Writing Competition

            The 12th R.L.Chopra Memorial Creative Writing Competition was organized by New Era Public School, Mayapuri on 21st July, 2018. This literary event was instituted in the memory of Late Shri R.L.Chopra, the founder chairman of New Era Public School. Mr. Chopra, an avid reader himself, was of the firm belief that reading leads to refinement and enrichment.

           This one day literary festival witnessed an overwhelming participation of 40 schools. The occasion was graced by the dynamic Director Mrs. Usha Chopra, who welcomed all the participants and the charismatic Principal Mrs. Vandana Chawla, who is always a source of inspiration.

          The book chosen in English was Difficult Daughters by Manju Kapur . It presents a saga which successfully treads through a complex terrain of family, society and relationships. Manju Kapoor has sought a fresh approach in defining the breeding of social change by paintings canvas of the novel with female characters who occupy different places in the timeline of change.

          Ms. Alka Rai, a trainer with Headword Publication and Anukta Ghosh editor with Scholastics, India judged the Book Discussion Round in English. Anushka of Bal Bharati Public School, Noida Khushi Basin of Lancer's Convent School, Rohini  and Isha Sharma of KIIT World School bagged the First, Second and Third prizes respectively.

          The book explored in Hindi was Nirmala by Premchand. The novel is centered around a young girl who is forced to marry an elderly. It is a classic text of the woman as a victim. Exploring sensitive, even dangerous terrain, it communicates a sense of tragedy rather than moral disapproval.

          Ms. Nisha Nag, Professor of Hindi at Miranda College, Delhi University and Ms. Great Devi, Professor of Hindi at Atma Ram Santana Dharma, Delhi University judged the Book Discussion Round in Hindi. Vardan of St. Thomas School, Dwarka,  Snehil Smriti of The Air force School ,Subroto Park an Lakshay Gupta of  Sachdeva Public School , Pitampura  bagged the First, Second and Third prizes respectively.

          The winners for Creative Writing, both English and Hindi will be announced on 10th August, 2018.

          The participants displayed an in depth understanding of the issues raised in the novels and impressed the judges with their analytical skills and won their appreciation. This one day long literary festival reasserts the significance of literature in our lives and helps us to understand the world better.

            Hindi Quiz Competition

            A Hindi Quiz Competition was held for classes III to V in the Primary wing auditorium from 10th to 12th of July, 2018. It was an inter-class competition in which 4 students from each section represented their class. There were many interesting rounds like unscrambling the words, identifying the proverbs(muhaavre) based on the picture clues given, choosing the appropriate adjectives, rapid fire etc. The students and the audience enjoyed the competition.

            The Director, Mrs Usha Chopra was happy to see the students answer confidently. She congratulated the students and teachers for their contributions.
