Counselling and Special Education Service

At New Era Public School, Mayapuri, student well-being is an integral part of the learning process. The Counselling and Special Education Department works to support students’ academic, emotional and social development in a safe and inclusive environment.

Key Areas of Support

  • Individual and group counselling sessions to address emotional, behavioural and academic concerns.
  • Guidance to help students build self-confidence, develop healthy relationships and adopt positive coping strategies.
  • Support in developing effective study habits, organisational skills and learning strategies.
  • Identification and support for students requiring additional academic or behavioural assistance.
  • Collaboration with teachers to implement classroom strategies that support students’ learning and well-being.
  • Regular interaction with parents to discuss concerns and provide guidance for supporting children at home.
  • Screening and support for students with special educational needs through observation, teacher referrals and classroom interventions.
  • Preparation and monitoring of Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) for identified students in collaboration with teachers and parents.
  • Workshops and awareness programmes on well-being, empathy, peer relationships, gender sensitivity and life skills.
  • Career counselling for senior students through career talks, seminars and career fairs.
  • Awareness sessions on adolescent issues such as bullying prevention, child rights, POCSO awareness, menstrual hygiene, study skills and time management.
