A culturally enriching programme under the aegis of SPIC MACAY was conducted at New Era Public School, Mayapuri, on the occasion of World Dance Day. The event aimed to promote awareness and appreciation of India’s rich classical heritage among students. The programme featured a mesmerizing Kathakali dance performance by the renowned artist Shri Thiruvattar Jagadeesan, along with his team of talented accompanying artists. Mrs Vandana Chawla, Director (Innovations), and Mrs Neerja Bhaskar Anand, Principal, graced the occasion with their presence, adding significance to the programme. The programme began with a formal welcome, followed by an introduction to SPIC MACAY and its mission to preserve and promote Indian culture. The anchor, Vaishnavi PJ, conducted the event gracefully. Shri Jagadeesan introduced the audience to the fundamentals of Kathakali, explaining its elaborate makeup, vibrant costumes, facial expressions (navarasas), and hand gestures (mudras). The live demonstration offered valuable insight into the depth and discipline of this classical dance form. The performance that followed was captivating and visually striking. The expressive storytelling, rhythmic movements, and traditional attire created a powerful impact. The accompanying artists provided excellent musical support, enhancing the overall presentation.
