New Era Public School, Mayapuri, celebrated its Annual Sports Day with great zeal and enthusiasm on 6th February, 2024. The event took place in the playground of the school in which students of class VI, VII, VIII, IX and XI participated. The event aimed to promote physical fitness and foster a spirit of healthy competition and solidarity among students. The event started with an opening ceremony, graced by the presence of honorable Director Mrs. Chopra, Principal of the school Mrs. Vandana Chawla, parents, teachers, and students. The Director and the school Principal delivered a motivating speech, emphasizing the importance of sports in overall development and encouraging students to showcase their talents with sportsmanship.
The event was started by the torch ceremony which was carried by Ms. Mannat Kochhar a National level Table Tennis player of the school. The day began with a March past, which was led by sports captains of the school Shreya Luthra and Mehar Marwah. In the march past one hundred students from various classes participated and showed their harmonization in marching. Later, a wide array of sporting events and competitions were organized to provide the diverse interests and abilities of the students. These included mass demonstration of yoga, in which 110 students of class VI and VII were participated and showed their talent and harmony through yoga. Students of class VIII also performed Umbrella drill and demonstrated a well-coordinated movements in their drill. After the drills, different house competed against each other in sports events like relay race, 50m race, skipping race, hurdle race and sack race etc. A part of non-participated students the parents also cheered their children.
In all the sporting events students bagged 36 gold, 36 silver and 36 bronze medals in different events. The overall annual house running trophy was won by Smriti house, Ist runner up trophy won by Anurag house and second runner up trophy bagged by Kirti house. The director Mrs. Chopra and the school Principal Mrs. Vandana Chawla gave away medals and trophies to all medal holders and winning houses. The Annual Sports Day concluded on a high note, leaving everyone with cherished memories of a day filled with excitement, solidarity, and sporting excellence. The event not only promoted physical fitness but also instilled important values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship among the students. It served as a testament to the school's commitment to holistic education and the overall development of its students.
