SPIC MACAY Programme

(Indian Classical Music & Rajasthani Folk Music)

New Era Public School, Mayapuri, had the privilege of hosting two enriching cultural programmes under the aegis of SPIC MACAY on 21st and 22nd July 2026 in the Saraswati Hall. The programmes aimed to introduce students to the richness of India's classical and folk music traditions while fostering a deep appreciation for the nation's diverse cultural heritage.

The first programme, held on 21st July, featured a captivating flute recital by the eminent flautist Pandit Rajendra Prasanna, accompanied by Ujith Uday Kumar on the tabla and Nishant Singh on the flute. On 22nd July, students witnessed a vibrant Rajasthani folk music performance by the renowned Anwar Khan Langa and Group, who mesmerised the audience with their soulful vocals, rhythmic compositions, and traditional instruments.

Both programmes were graced by the esteemed presence of Mrs Vandana Chawla, Director (Innovations), and Mrs Neerja Bhaskar Anand, Principal.

Each programme commenced with a formal welcome and an introduction to the vision and mission of SPIC MACAY in preserving and promoting India's classical and folk art forms. The artists shared fascinating insights into their respective musical traditions, explaining the history, significance, and unique features of Indian classical and Rajasthani folk music. Their interactive sessions encouraged students to understand, appreciate, and preserve India's rich artistic legacy.

The performances created an enthralling atmosphere, leaving the audience spellbound. While the flute recital showcased the timeless beauty and serenity of Indian classical music through melodious ragas and intricate compositions, the Rajasthani folk performance reflected the vibrant spirit and cultural richness of the desert state through soulful singing and energetic musical presentations.

Each programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to SPIC MACAY, the distinguished artists, and the school management for organising these memorable cultural experiences.

Overall, the two-day SPIC MACAY programme proved to be an inspiring and enriching experience. It not only exposed students to the beauty and diversity of India's musical heritage but also strengthened their appreciation for the country's timeless traditions and cultural values.
