New Era Public School, Mayapuri, under the aegis of its SPIC MACAY Heritage Club, successfully organised a two-day classical music programme to promote India’s rich cultural heritage among students. The first session was held on 19th January 2026, where the renowned sitar maestro Ustad Saeed Zafar Khan mesmerised the audience with a soulful sitar recital. He was ably accompanied on the tabla by Shree Baabar Latif, whose rhythmic excellence beautifully complemented the performance. The students were deeply moved by the serene and meditative quality of the music and experienced the essence of Indian classical traditions. The second session took place on 20th January 2026. The eminent vocalist Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar enthralled the audience with his powerful and evocative Dhrupad performance. He was accompanied by Devpratap Singh Gaur and Bhavya Kandpal on the tanpura, while Pt. Mohan Shyam Sharma provided a rich rhythmic base on the pakhawaj. The performance offered students a rare opportunity to witness the depth, discipline, and spiritual intensity of Dhrupad music. The programme was graced by the presence of the Director – Innovations, Ms Vandana Chawla, and the Principal, Ms Neerja Bhaskar Anand. They addressed the students and highlighted the importance of connecting with India’s cultural roots through music and the arts. They encouraged students to remain curious, culturally aware, and respectful towards the nation’s artistic traditions. The event proved to be an enriching and inspiring experience for all present. It not only deepened students’ understanding of Indian classical music but also instilled in them a sense of respect for the nation’s artistic traditions.
